Sikkim Anti Drugs Act
The Sikkim Anti-Drugs Act (SADA), 2006, is a state-specific legislation introduced to tackle the rising issue of drug abuse and illicit trafficking in Sikkim. It supplements the NDPS Act (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act) but is more localized in its approach, incorporating stricter provisions and streamlined procedures specific to the socio-legal needs of the state.
SADA criminalizes the possession, consumption, manufacture, sale, transport, and distribution of narcotic and psychotropic substances. It includes provisions for preventive detention, rehabilitation of addicts, and speedy trials, making it a powerful legal tool in the fight against drug-related offenses.
